In 2019, a pre-dental college student was looking for work and wasn't able to get the job, but he inspired Dr. Wilson to offer an internship position.
Dr. Wilson enjoys teaching, and this young man made worthy contributions to Whole Person Dental Care. As his internship was ending in January 2020, they worked together to recruit a new intern. Intentionally this time!
They worked hard recruiting, reviewing, and interviewing candidates. Inspired by these candidates, Dr. Wilson decided to make interning a 2020 summer event. Every candidate's interviews were lined and everyone was excited to meet the applicants. And then, the pandemic happened...
With Whole Person Dental Care shut down by the quarantine and the students forced back home, Dr. Wilson decided to offer everyone a remote internship opportunity. While she had no idea how to put this together, she and the interns built it into what it is today.
Our remote internship cycles are four months long. Now, almost four years later, Whole Person Dental Care has hosted twelve 4-month cycles and over 60 interns.
This opportunity for pre-dental students is outstanding, and our interns make outstanding and often long-lasting contributions to WPDC. It's an enjoyable time and everyone wins! We do a lot of work and we practice good self-care via the Internship Wellness additon to the program.
Our pre-professional interns start growing their colleague network connections right here. As a remote program, the connections made so far extend through:
Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and more...
WPDC also benefits from the employment of some of our most capable intern alumni. The WPDC Internship Program continues to thrive and grow! We are so proud of our alumni who are now studying dentistry at the Schools of Dentistry and Dental Hygiene:
Columbia, Rutgers, Tufts, Howard, UNC, Meharry, University of Maryland, Tunxis School of Dental Hygiene, and SUNY University at Buffalo.

This internship is ideal for pre-dental students who are taking a gap year or a part-time semester; however, all pre-dental students with a flexible schedule and interest in dentistry are encouraged to apply.
